Lunchtime opens in Maun
13 Aug 2014
A new traditional cuisine restaurant known as Lunchtime has opened in Maun.
The owner, 34-year-old Tlokweng born and also an accounts degree holder from the University of Botswana (UB), Mr Augustine Mopipi said in an interview that passion was his drive.
Mr Mopipi said even though there were lots of restaurants in Maun, he believed he would make it because of the unique traditional product his restaurant offered.
Despite the financial challenges, Mr Mopipi said he had a great passion to venture into business in Maun as the place was a tourism centre and he was optimistic that many people from different places would be able to experience his traditional food.
Mr Mopipi said with the little funds he had, he invested in his business and he intended to work hard to generate a great income and to create job opportunities for the unemployed. He noted that most traditional food offered in his restaurant menu was mostly found around and near Maun.
The young entrepreneur said that since he opened his restaurant, he had managed to employ five staff members, one chef and four food handlers.
Mr Mopipi said his business was doing well so far and he was hoping to open another traditional cuisine restaurant in Ghanzi this October.
He believes that Ghanzi is one of the townships, through which many people travel to see the cultural villages around like D’Kar.
Mr Mopipi encouraged young people to venture into small businesses with the hope of making it to the top. ENDS
