Rollers Police XI share spoils

Township Rollers squandered a first half 2-0 lead to settle for a draw with Police XI in a premier league encounter played in Molepolole on August 10.
Rollers, who were all over Police, were rewarded late first half through Jerome Louis and Otlantshekela Mooketsi. In the 42nd minute, Louise converted from the sport kick after he was brought down inside the box following a fast counter attack.
Three minutes later, Mooketsi, who appeared to be slowly wining into ‘Mapalastina’s hearts as a dead ball specialist did it again when he beat Police keeper Bokamoso Moeba to make it 2-0 into recess.
Though Police XI were compact at the back, and thus matched all Rollers’ attack, they were often caught against the run off play whenever they tried to pressure into their opponents’ defence to force for a quick equaliser.
However, it was clear that the second half belonged to the Jungle Kings as complacent Rollers forwards wasted more scoring chances. Rollers, who enjoyed possession, however managed to contain their opponents and created few chances of their own but they were put at bay by relentless attacks from Police XI.
In the 70th minute, Police XI managed to pull one back through a Ndiyapo Letsholathe header after Rollers defence had failed to clear their lines, and minutes later, Lawrence Majawa’s late tackle inside the penalty area earned Police XI a penalty kick.
Uyapo Seleka converted to steal what initially looked like Rollers’ win and thereby leaving Rollers horde of supporters disappointed. ENDS
