BDF XI to participate in CAF

BDF XI chairperson, Brigadier Boikanyo Addanes says they will participate in CAF competitions.

Speaking at a press briefing on August 8, Brigadier Addanes said the team had proved its mettle in the domestic league by winning the Mascom Top 8 as well as finishing on position two in the be Mobile Premier League.

“We want to test our mettle in CAF competitions and for you to be the best you have to compete with the best,” he said. He said the team was determined to conquer Africa, adding that they intended to go all the way in the competition.

Brigadier Addanes further said BDF XI had signed a number of quality players who will help the team in its Africa campaign. He  added that although they were young, he was confident that they will perform to the required standard.

He noted that they had assembled a strong and formidable team over the years, adding that their contribution in the senior national team was visible to all.

In other issues, the chairperson also noted that the team started the league on a high note last season, as they were title contenders until they were docked six points for taking football matters to court.

Despite their predicament, he said they soldiered on and fought until they finished the league on position two. He thanked the technical team, supporters and the coach for a job well done last season.

Brigadier Addanes said although the team was docked points, they did not have any hard feelings towards anyone, but would continue to work hard this season to prove that their performance last season was not a fluke.

He attributed their performance to good administration.“For the team to do well they had to incorporate discipline and team work amongst the players, and I am happy I managed to achieve my objectives despite the hiccups,” he said.

He said they have prepared well for the new season, adding that they have played a series of friendly games which they managed to win.

He boasted that this season the team will be a force to reckon with.

New players signed by the club are Vincent Zombe, Mosha Gaolaolwe, Ogomoditse Baoleni, Phomolo Keimetswe, Keogagile Kobe, Keleagetse Mogomotsi, Tshoganetso Malizimba, Pako Moloi, Gobe Maphane, Ontiritse Gaotlhoboge, Bakang Onnetse and Romeo Maitamo.

Brigadier Adenns said Saukani Zulu, Kago Nfila, Tshepo Baipoledi, Boitumelo Mafoko and Ndiyapo Letsholathebe have been released to  join other teams. ENDS
