Social and community development department embarked on pre- judging exercise workshop held in Bobonong recently.

Speaking during the day, the principal home economist in the department of social and community development in Mahalapye, Mrs Motshidisi Maphakwane the mandate of the exercise was to prepare entrepreneurs and producers for the coming Gaborone consumer fair scheduled August 25 to 31.

Mrs Maphakwane said entrepreneurs should expose their products to local markets in order to make the public aware of what they offer and where they can be found.

She also said first and second prizes from mini shows will then compete at the prejudging with the ultimate first and second winners proceeding to Gaborone.

Mrs Maphakwane said categories for competition will include, machine sewing item, leather work, basketry, pottery, beadwork, woodwork, art, weaving, flower making and arrangement and food preservation amongst others.

Lamenting on the issue Bobonong Councillor Njobo Ofentse said education about how to run businesses should be invested on entrepreneurs as many time entrepreneurs set prices which cannot be afforded by consumers and so there is need for entrepreneurs to set prices which can be afforded by everyone.ENDS
