Madiba senior hosts chess tournament

Madiba Senior School chess coach, Moruakgomo Mogae has thanked all for coming despite the short notice.
Mogae said this during a chess tournament for the north and southern region schools in Mahalapye over the weekend. Over 20 schools competed.
He said the event was one of its kind as it was graced by the participation of two primary school players in 11-year-old, Ketshephile Otisitswe from Flowertown Primary School and six-year-old Naledi Marape of Baobab Primary School who competed against junior and senior school players.
From the girls section, the defending champion, Malebogo Keleapere from Maun Senior Secondary School won with six and half out of seven points, followed by Botshelo Mozwenku from Matshekge who came second with six out of seven points, while third position went to Kemoile Koziba of Nkange junior school with six points out of seven.
In the boys section, Aobakwe Motudi of Seepapitso emerged victorious with seven points, seconded by Kingsley Baoki from Mogoditshane senior with six and a half points, while Ryan Lobelo from Masunga got the third position with six points.
The winners were awarded tokens of appreciation and the champion was given a trophy, gold medal, chess set and chess book, whereas position two got a silver medal, chess set, chess book and third position walked away with a bronze medal, chess set and chess book.
The tournament was sponsored by Madiba Senior Secondary School PTA and was attended by Botswana Chess Federation development director, Motlhokomedi Thabang who applauded the teams for honouring the tournament. He commended the young primary school players for their passion for the game. ENDS
