Tati Town school never closed
29 Jul 2014
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Keletso Rakhudu has informed Parliament that old Tati Town Primary School was never closed but was instead relocated to the current premises in April 2004.
Answering a question in Parliament on July 28, Mr Rakhudu said the Francistown City Council was the custodian of all primary school facilities and was therefore responsible for provision of security services for its property.
He said since the relocation council had been providing security services at the old school premises and explained further that the tender was awarded to MSECO Security Services in December 2012 at the tune of P10 092 to provide security.
So far, he said, “the Council has spent P234 664 towards these services since December 2012 and said the Council intends to lease out the school to prospective partners through public tender.”
MP for Francistown West, Dr Habaudi Hobona, had asked the minister to state when the old Tati School was closed, and if he is aware that since the closure there was continuous provision of security services at the school, if so, how much has been spent on those services and state future plans for the school buildings.
