MoA has 535 C band posts

24 Jul 2014

The assistant minister of Agriculture Mr Oreeditse Molebatsi has told Parliament that his ministry has 535 C band posts which are not multiple titled and graded of which 104 are in Kgalagadi and Ghanzi district.

He said progression of officers within the C Band positions that are not multiple titled and graded has been a challenge.

However he said efforts have been made by the ministry to multiple titled and grade such posts to allow progression of officers.

He said the ministry has always addressed the situation by using vacancies and will continue to do so to enable movement of officers.

The assistant minister stated that during the 2013/14 financial year 124 posts were multiple titled and graded and officers progressed through those posts.

He stated that nine officers in Ghanzi and seven in Kgalagadi also progressed adding that as and when the positions are multi titled and graded the officers depending on their performance will progress.

Mr Molebatsi stated that the ministry will continue with rationalisation of vacancies to multiple title and grade the positions to address the situation.

For instance he said as recent as July 15 2014, the ministry requested for a waiver which was granted to use positions that were used for outsourced functions.

MP for Kgalagadi North Mr Philip Khwae had asked him to state if there are any C band posts in his ministry which are not multiple graded.

He also asked whether there are any officers in his ministry who are not progressing as a result of this and if so how many of these officers are in Kgalagadi and Ghanzi districts respectively. ENDS
