Presidents Housing Appeal assists over 300

A total of 371 houses have been built for needy people countrywide under the President’s Housing Appeal since it was established in 2007.

The Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri said this in Parliament on July 17.
 He said 31 more houses were still under construction.


According to the assistant minister 94 houses have been built in Central District, 62 in North West, 44 in Kweneng and 39 in Southern districts.
Further houses were built in Kgatleng (38), North East (22), South East (19), Kgalagadi (10), Ghanzi (8), and Chobe (9) districts.
 Nine more houses were built in Lobatse, 12 in Francistown, two in Jwaneng, two in Gaborone and one in Selebi Phikwe.


Of those still under construction 16 are in the Central District, one in North West, five in Southern, one in Kgalagadi, and eight in Kweneng districts. MP Dr Habaudi Hobona had asked the assistant minister to state the number of houses built under the President’s Housing Appeal and how they were distributed nationally and per constituency.
