Tonota raises funds for centenary celebrations

Jwaneng Mine Hospital superintendent, Dr Mwamba Nsebula says Debswana is committed to partnering with communities to make real and lasting contribution to their lives.
Speaking after a sponsored walk in Tonota recently, Dr Nsebula, who was the guest walker, said Debswana was committed to uplifting the lives of Batswana.
He said their health and well-being mission at Debswana mines was to have a healthy and productive workforce.
He added that their approach to health and well-being was to link preventing and treating occupational diseases with other employee health programmes.
Furthermore, Dr Nsebula said their mandate was to look after the health of employees, hence they also saw it fit to be part of the Tonota sponsored walk.
Dr Nsebula, who donated P10 000, said he enjoyed the challenge of walking the 20 kilometres from Mandunyane to Tonota through Majwanamantshonyana.
Dr Nsebula noted that nowadays people preferred driving from one place to another instead of walking.
He also noted that the value of diamonds to Batswana was immeasurable, and that their footprint extended to all corners of the country.
In his welcoming remarks, Kgosi Ramosinyi Radipitse of Tonota said the sponsored walk was a prelude to the centenary celebrations in September this year.Kgosi Radipitse urged those who had attended the sponsored walk to spread the message about the upcoming centenary celebrations.
The chairperson of the fundraising committee, Mr Gabadire Ngakane said their aim was to raise funds and prepare for the celebrations.
He said the fundraising walk was also intended to create awareness amongst residents. ENDS
