President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has received a donation of 13 beds and bedding from Dikgang Publishing Company, publishers of Mmegi and Monitor, in collaboration with The Business Point (Pty) Ltd.


Handing over the donation at Office of President gardens Friday July 18, Mmegi Publishing House Sales Manager, Mr Victor Malumbela said his company had been watching with keen interest the President’s flagship programme of poverty eradication and housing appeal. 


He said the interest has been demonstrated by his company’s coverage of most of the events that highlight the President’s efforts in addressing the needs of Batswana. 


He said the donation will benefit some Khawa underprivileged families who recently received 20 houses through the housing appeal prior to the Khawa Dune Challenge.

During the event, Dikgang Publishing Company donated 10 beds and bedding.


“Funds permitting we shall continue to support your government’s programmes that will benefit, change and touch the lives of many Batswana especially the underprivileged,” said Mr Malumbela.


Deputy permanent secretary, BGCIS, Dr Jeff Ramsay said the Office of President has seen an explosion of philanthropy from countrymen and women and the business community taking part in the President’s housing appeal and poverty eradication flagship programme.


“We see a great mobilisation in this country where everybody is getting on board to support the initiative,” he said.
Deputy permanent secretary Information and Broadcasting, Mr Mogomotsi Kaboeamodimo said the Khawa Dune Challenge was not just an activity of feast and festival, but a home was taking shape as so far 20 houses had been built.

Twenty family members and homes are taking shape and therefore this donation of beds and bedding will go a long way in contributing to the President’s efforts of improving the livelihoods and dignity of people who live in that regard,” he said. ENDS
