Volleyball league continues this weekend

Mascom volleyball leagues for both men and women will not be going for recess this weekend due to outstanding games.
Games were affected by various reasons ranging from unavailability of halls and where halls were available proper lighting was a problem.
Games organising commission chairperson, Ndibo Lebala said there was a point where Molepolole sports hall was unavailable. Also, he said Serowe College of Education saw a duel between Diphatsa and BDF VI called off due to poor lighting. Police College hall was at some point out of reach due to maintenance work.
“Not only that, some ladies teams such as Diphatsa and Spartans pulled out of the league and thus affecting the fixtures while for men teams like Diphatsa’s sponsorship issue has adversely affected the completion of the first round games,” he said.
Diphatsa have only played six out of the possible 11 games. Two of their games were cancelled for poor lighting against BDF VI and another was called off due to alleged poor officiating. Nonetheless, the ladies first round will be concluded this weekend.
However, Lebala was optimistic that the second round games will be wrapped up early November as per the tradition. He expected the second round fixtures to be ready in the coming week.
He however, warned that the league break may be affected by the postponed games and hence may be shorter than what players are accustomed to since men’s break may effect after July 26 where the second round may commence early August.
This weekend (July 19-20), will see Serowe based Tanian wrap up their woeful first round when they play host to on song Kutlwano alas Big House at midday. Tanian is yet to record a win out of the 10 outings they have played so far, while Big House will have to flex their muscles against bottom placed Tanian to stand a better chance to topple leaders Police VI.
At 2pm, Francistown based club Diphatsa will battle it out with log leaders Police. Last weekend Police went down by 1-3 to Kutlwano who have three games in hand. Mag Stimela who are sitting on the seventh spot with 19 points will take on Kutlwano at 4pm before Diphatsa end the day with a date with Spiking Stars. If they amass all the points, Kutlwano are poised to maintain a second place behind Police if the latter collects maximum points against Diphatsa.
At the same venue, 10am fifth placed Mag Stimela ladies will face off against Kutlwano ladies team whose win may place them either in the second or the summit of the log.
In Molepolole, fifth placed Mafolofolo takes on local boys Desert Kings who thrashed Tanian 3-0 in Serowe last weekend. The game starts at 11am. At the same venue institutional teams BDF VI and Prisons VI will lock horns at 1pm. BDF VI and Prisons VI are perched at fourth and sixth spots respectively ENDS
