17 Jul 2014

The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Patrick Masimolole says his ministry has so far trained a total of 29 computer hardware students and about 2 380 in BSC (Honours) in computing.

The Assistant Minister told Parliament that 1 689 were trained in Bachelors Degree in Computing, 195 in BSC Computer science. He said all the graduates were capable of assembling, maintain and installing computers, “but they are not hardware engineers.”

Mr Masimolole said the ministry was not aware of any one among the graduates who had produced a computer in the country.

The Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Dr Habaudi Hobona had wanted to know whether the country had trained and produced any computer hardware engineers, if so, did any of them produce computers locally.  ENDS
