Three lecturers leave medical school
17 Jul 2014
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Patrick Masimolole says three expatriate lecturers with PHD have left the medical school.
He said the dean, Professor Thomas Massaro resigned in 2011, a lecture Dr Faisal Fadlelmola also resigned in 2011, and Professor Isaac Quaye who was an associate professor left in 2012.
Mr Masimolole said the school of medicine department conducted an exit interview on Professor Massaro, and the reason he advanced for his resignation was a health-related issue that needed to be treated in the United States. He said the lecturers had been replaced with personnel with similar skills.
Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Dr Habaudi Hobona had wanted the Acting Minister of Education and Skills Development to state the number of expatriate lecturers with PHD that were employed and have since left or resigned from the new medical school.
Dr Hobona had also wanted to know the reasons they gave for resignation and if any replacements of personnel with similar skills and qualifications have been found. ENDS
