The Mabaila Foundation has given 10 blankets to the Department of Information Services for donation to beneficiaries that the department will identify.

The founder of Mabaila Foundation, Mr Tshephang Mabaila, said the department, with its network of offices around Botswana, was in a good position to identify needy people and give them the blankets.

Mr Mabaila said the foundation started operating in 2012, with the aim of assisting senior Batswana citizens in all aspects of health. A project is going on at Matsiloje in the North East District where the foundation is building a house for a senior citizen.

The foundation also wanted to help the senior citizens with sight problems by buying spectacles and medication for them.

He said the donation of blankets was in response to a call by the President, Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, for the corporate world and other outside government to support poverty eradication efforts.

He urged the youth participate in activities that would benefit the nation. ends
