GCC executes street lights maintenance plan
15 Jul 2014
Gaborone City Council (GCC) has since April started executing the maintenance plan of street lights, says Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso.
Responding to a parliamentary question on July 14, Ms Tshireletso said she was not aware that it had been more than 10 years since GCC promised to remove street-light poles next to Sedibeng Lodge in Phase IV.
She said the tilted but stable wooden poles will be removed by end of August and will be replaced with steel ones because wooden poles were easily stolen.
Gaborone West South MP, Mr Botsalo Ntuane had asked if the minister was aware that it had been more than 10 years since the GCC promised to remove street light poles next to Sedibeng Lodge, if so, when would the poles be removed as they were almost falling onto the nearby road and yards and posed a danger to the residents.
