97 families make way for taxi rank
10 Jul 2014
Ninety Seven families were relocated from Mabudutsa in Maun to pave way for the development of the bus and taxi rank says Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Lebonaamang Mokalake.
The Minister told Parliament said the current standard compensation rates applicable across all land boards were applied to all affected families.
Mr Mokalake further said a total of 13 families from Sexaxa and 208 from Shashe have been relocated.
He said the said families were not compensated because they had illegally occupied the land.
He was responding to questions from Maun West MP, Mr Tawana Moremi who had wanted to know how many families were moved from Mabudutsa ward in Maun for the creation of the bus and taxi rank.
MP Moremi had also wanted to know how the compensation rates were arrived at and why those who were moved from Sexaxa and Shashe were not compensated. ENDS
