BoB demonetizes old coins

Bank of Botswana (BoB) says all old coins will be demonetised effective August 28 this year.
A news release from the Bank stated the demonetization followed the launch and issuing of a new family of coins in February this year. The bank said the old coin would be exchanged only at Bank of Botswana in Gaborone and Francistown for a period of five years until August 28, 2019.
The public was therefore requested to exchange old coins at the nearest commercial bank before the deadline of August 28, this year. ENDS
