Zebras coach gets new wheels

09 Jul 2014

Zebras coach, Peter Butler, is no longer a pedestrian, thanks to Barloworld Motor Botswana.

After hearing from the news media that the coach was hitch hiking to work, Barloworld decided to give him a set of wheels, and they are not your ordinary type of wheels. It is a sparkling white four by four Amarok, 18 inch super mag and tyres, a two litre roaring beast of a machine which will provide the coach best grip possible.

Speaking at the event to hand over the car, Barloworld Motor Botswana, dealer principal, Clement Matswagothata, said the coach had been struggling with transport to games and any other function he wanted to attend.

He said they therefore investigated the possibility of sponsoring a vehicle for the coach which would make his task easier and assist Botswana Football Association (BFA) in their quest for improved performance.

Matswagothata said Barloworld was excited about the relationship. The company also secured an insurance sponsor, Regent Iinsurance, who would insure the vehicle for the term of the sponsorship.

He said the P500 000 Volkswagen Amarok four-by-four, which is appropriate for any terrain, would enable the coach to attend all his assignment in the more rural areas of the country in his quest to identify talent.

Tebogo Sebego, the BFA president, said his association was accused for not providing the coach with transport. Therefore, they engaged Barloworld to come up with a package that would assist the coach to do his daily assignment.

Sebego said the coach was doing well therefore he deserved to drive an appropriate car, adding there was a pool of players across Botswana where he would search for talent.

Butler told BOPA that for the past five months he hitch-hiked or depended on his friend Allan Rice to transport him and that made his job difficult.

He said the car would give him the opportunity to attend games and ultimately identify raw and young talent that needs to be nurtured as that would benefit the country. He thanked Allan Rice and Barloworld. ENDS
