Labour ministry takes services to people
08 Jul 2014
Plans are underway to render some immigration services, including the issuance of passports at department of Civil and National Registration office currently housed in Shakawe.
The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Peter Siele informed Parliament that the invitation to tender for the partitioning of the available office space in order to accommodate the Immigration Department was being evaluated. He said the ministry was committed to taking services to the people.
He explained that Mohembo Border Immigration Office was indeed used for passport issuance and border control purposes as it was the only immigration office in the Shakawe area.
He was responding to a question from Okavango MP, Mr Bagalatia Arone who asked the Minister why the Mohembo Immigration office was the one used for passport issuance and general border control when it was far from Shakawe by almost 16km. ENDS
