08 Jul 2014
The assistant minister of Local Government and Rural development Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has told Parliament that she is aware that the generator which was donated by Dimension Data at Kaudwane Primary School has not been used.
She said Kweneng District Council is in the process of connecting the generator to the school and the service kit for the generator has already been procured and it is expected that the works will be completed by August, 2014.
However, Ms Tshireletso said she the school is currently powered with photovoltaic electricity which is working properly. MP for Letlhakeng West Mr Ngaka Ngaka had asked the assistant minister if she is aware that the generator which was donated by Dimension Data to Kaudwane Primary School has never been used since 2009 and if so why.
Responding to another question Ms Tshireletso said the hand stamping programme started as a Self Help programme and those employ within the programme had to use their own equipment.
However she said in consideration of the wear and tear on these implements, measures have been put in place to ensure that councils make a once off procurement for metshe, Dikika and Maselo after every three years to be used by hand stampers.
MP for Kgatleng East Mr Isaac Mabiletsa had asked why school hand stampers of maselo, dikika who use their own mortars (kika) and pound stick (motshe) and leselo were not given an allowance to cover these tools against wear and tear. ENDS
