Book shortage in Kgatleng no more
26 Feb 2013
The problem of book shortage that was experienced in many schools in Kgatleng District has now been addressed.
Kgatleng District Council admitted that there was shortage of stationery in some schools because the tender for stationery was awarded late in November when most companies were closing for Christmas holidays.
Kgatleng District Council principal public relations officer, Ms Thato Chwaane said all schools in the district had now been supplied with stationery. She said council was appreciative of arrangements by some parents teachers associations where parents would assist by way of buying the stationary for the children .
According to her, the education of children was a partnership between government and the parents and both had to play their part. She said because parents assisted government by purchasing books for their children, stationery that was meant for students would be stockpiled for future use. ENDS
