Gaborone Hogs rugby club continued with their good performance in the Botswana Rugby Union Division A after trouncing Ryders 59-7 in game played at Wharic Park on Saturday, July 5.

Hogs made their intention clear in the opening of the game when scoring their first try through their captain Hugo Botha.

From there Hogs never looked back as they managed to score tries after try and their conventions were well taken by Sean Bester who was also a marvel to watch on the day.
The team continued with their dominance over Ryders and as the game progressed Ryders showed desperation to score but Hogs defence could not let them to cross the line.

The game went into recess with Gaborone Hogs leading with 31-0 and after the half time spectators thought the Ryders will ride high and change their tactics and game approach, but that was not the case since they continued to display poor defence.

Although the Hogs were smarter on the day, Ryders were to blame because their bad position gave their opponents more room to maneuver, given that had they at least packed their defence, they could have lost with better margin.

Gaborone Hogs tries were scored by amongst others Hugo Botha, Sean Bester, Tyrone Warberton, Molibi Maphanyane and Vuyisile Moyo, while all the conversions were taken by Bester.

However Ryders consolation try was netted by Bikie Mawela to make the final score 59-7. Ryders coach Shine Gabatladiwe said he had pleaded with BRU to at least postpone their fixture because some of his players had family commitment, but he was told the fixtures were congested. He however promised to fight in all remaining games.

Earlier on in Division B game Gideon managed to beat Hogs 26-14.
In other games played on Saturday in division A league Cheetahs gunned down Gunners 22-3 while UB had a field day by beating Mochudi 110-0. ENDS
