Minister of Health, Dr John Seakgosing said the recently enacted Public Health Act came into force in February this year.

Answering a question in Parliament, Dr Seakgosing said they were informed by the Department of Government Printing and Publishing Services that it will be printed by the second week of July this year.

The minister said following the enactment, the Ministry of Health had initiated the necessary consultative processes that would allow them to constitute the National Primary Health Care Coordinating Committee and the national health council including its chairperson. 

He said they hoped to have concluded by the end of this year.

Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Dr Habaudi Hobona had asked the minister whether he had constituted the National Primary Health care Coordinating Committee and National Health Chairperson in accordance with section 5 of the Public Bill and if so how many times have they met so far and who is the eminent health professional chairperson.
