The Bambinos’ Haven English Medium Pre-School prides itself for being an organisation operating under true Christian values and principles as well as giving back to the community.
The school director, Mr Proud Ndlera said this at a cultural festival organised to raise funds for the school recently.
He said the pre-school, which is located in Kanye, provided free enrolment to children from underprivileged families of the community, the disabled and also donates to the needy every year.
Mr Ndlera said every year they enroll a sizeable number of children and for proper screening of such children; they work hand in hand with the social and community development officers.
He said last year, they received 10 needy children and they intend increasing the number by five. The school was founded in 2010, after realising that there was a need to provide pre-school education for children in Kanye.
The school offers basic education skills to young kids before they begin formal schooling, adding that they started with only two needy children and now they have 15 needy children.
Mr Ndlera said all children benefit from a free transport to and from school daily, free access to educational materials and tuition, provision of clothing like uniform, free daily snack packs (mopako) and free daily lunch at school.
‘’Children participate in a comprehensive program of religious, academic tutoring and mentoring that promotes life skills, educational skills and character development, all aimed at preparing and empowering them,” said Mr Ndlera.
He said the proposed program is consistent with the school mission and Vision 2016 pillar of “An educated and Informed Nation.’’
The school head said the school faced challenges of students who drop out of school due to pregnancy and other reasons.
For his part, Kanye Administrative Authority council chairperson, Mr Patrick Ralotsia said the pre-school offers a safe, nurturing, and Christian-centered environment that provides play-based experiences that enhance the social physical, intellectual, creative, emotional and spiritual development of achild.
Mr Ralotsia said they are proud of the school because there had not been any reports of students being abused.
He also donated 10 blankets to the school so that children can use while resting during the course of the day. Ends
