Kiron Spar donate

The Presidential Charity Trust has received a donation of 60 balls from Spar Botswana and 200 comforters from Kiron Investments.
The donations were handed over at the Office of President on June 18 by Spar marketing executive, Mr Bobby Rushforth and Kiron Investment managing director, Mr Babu Bhuiyan.
Receiving the donation, senior private secretary to the President, Brigadier George Tlhalerwa said the donations were welcomed as they filled up the gaps in the society of the less privileged people as well as giving some sense of normalcy in their lives.
He said the balls would assist in constituency football tournaments. Brigadier Tlhalerwa briefed the donors about the two outreach programmes, the Presidential charity trust and housing appeal.
He said there was a destitute housing programme fully financed by government, whereby destitute people were identified with the help of social and community development offices under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
He, however, noted that those people within society, who did not fall within the requirements of government’s destitute programme were catered for under the trust.
“This is because those people are equally disadvantaged, but perhaps they are placed at the bottom of the list. Some have got unfinished houses and they need assistance,” he said.
Brigadier Tlhalerwa further said he was disturbed by some appalling media reports about the President’s charitable trust and the housing appeal, describing that as just a political gimmick. ENDS
