Officer calls for prioritisation
19 Jun 2014
Hukuntsi Sub-district chief education officer, Ms Khumoyame Mosetlha has called for prioritisation of children’s education across the country.
Speaking during June 16 Commemoration Day in Kang, Ms Mosetlha recommended for more resources to be channeled towards education improvement as that would insure a bright future for the country. She said parents and teachers need to show friendly faces to their children for them to be able to open up and receive education. Ms Mosetlha added that parents hold the major responsibility of giving their children guidance.
A student representative from Motaung Junior Secondary School, Kgosietsile Kegakilwe said countries need to ensure compulsory education in respect to female students and the disadvantaged children to ensure equal access to education. He also said measures should be provided to encourage regular attendance at schools and the reduction of drop-out rates. He said early childhood education was a concern as pre-school education was the least developed with the main responsibility left to parents and care givers. ENDS
