Through their global service day, Aon Botswana has built an outdoor playing area for children at one of the units of Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind (MRCB) which include a jungle gym, trampoline and toys.

In addition, Aon Botswana would also build additional bathroom facilities as well as establish a kitchen for the children which would see them move from being catered from the office.

Speaking at the global service day in Mochudi last Thursday, June 12 Aon Botswana managing director, Dr Thapelo Matsheka said together with other colleagues across the world they were volunteering their time and efforts to support over 150 charity partners in the community.

Dr Matsheka said they want to make an impact in the communities where they do business in hence they chose to assist the children at Mochudi Resource Centre.

He said they had donated some items at the centre which include refurbishing and equipping the kitchen.

The partnership they made with the centre, he said would impact the society and that children would benefit a lot from it.

“At Aon Botswana we believe that if we empower the communities, we actually get the results that are required,” Dr Matsheka said.

Further the managing director stated that they were dedicated to empowering economic and human possibility, not only through their services to clients but also through their firms’ wide commitment to strengthening the communities they operate within.

“We have chosen to work with MRCB as we believe in education, and we encourage and support critical thinking and education both within Aon and our communities.”

He further said without access to education and other resources, children with disabilities face an uphill battle to improve their circumstances.

The director of MRCB, Ms Sophie Moalosi said the donation would go a long way in assisting the children at their unit and have exposure to things they had been missing in their lives.

Ms Moalosi said the unit serves as a pre-school for children between the ages of 3-6 who come from different parts of the country.

He highlighted that children need a comfortable life and the playing centre would provide a comfort for the children as they would be able to play and share time together.

She thanked Aon Botswana for affording the children an opportunity to grow up in loving environment with everything they need provided for. ENDS
