The deputy director of the Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM), Ms Kebonye Moepeng says great confidence has been placed on the public officers from different districts to improve on work ethics.
Delivering a keynote address at the District Public Service Day awards in Francistown on June 13, Ms Moepeng said some public officers worked tirelessly, to ensure that whatever they do becomes a success.
Ms Moepeng also encouraged each individual to take part on the issue of 10 point agenda and make their own contribution in their work places. She noted that there is still a hope for Botswana, and it takes each and every one of them to make their own contribution towards improving work ethics.
In addition, she said they still had a long way to go in instilling a good work ethic to address the issues raised in the 10 point agenda.
“I am hopeful that projects such as the Smart Work Ethic led by Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC) aimed at confronting the wasteful inefficiencies embedded in the national productivity standards, will address the concerns of poor work ethic that currently plaques the country,” she said.
Ms Moepeng noted that steps taken towards the training of work ethic in the public service would go a long way to transform work ethic in Botswana.
Furthermore, she said the government has in the past celebrated its achievements and innovations through public service conventions for many years. She said she was delighted that government has participated through the public service conventions at the highest level of the celebration.
Ms Moepeng updated the public officers that since last year, 37 projects and teams that involve more than 500 employees have been formed by ministries to address 10 point agenda and six of the projects have already made an impact in addressing the issues raised.
She said those projects would be presented and discussed at the Public Service Convention that will be held on June 20 in Gaborone.╩ Different department from different districts received prize awards in the form of trophies and certificates. Departments that got position one were awarded a trophy and certificate whereas position two got only a certificate.

Mr Masesane also appreciated the community leaders for the hospitality, adding that the economy of the country is dependent on public officers. ENDS
