Botswana aims for successful transmission
15 Jun 2014
The Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri says Botswana is committed to facilitating a successful transmission to digital television.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the seventh Southern African Development Community (SADC) digital broadcasting migration forum in Kasane recently, Mr Matlhabaphiri said Botswana was privileged to have been given the honour to host the forum.
He said a lot had been done for the readiness of the terrestrial network and related technical work as well as consultation and coordination with neighbouring countries as required.
Mr Matlhabaphiri said no government could achieve such transformation without the engagement and support of the private sector. He said such technological transformation would not come without significant initial costs and ongoing development costs.
The assistant minister said it was pleasing to see governments engaging with industries as confirmed by the participation of the business sector in the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) forums. ENDS
