The Kgatleng District Council has acquired three fire engines at the cost of P5 million.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony in Mochudi recently, chairman, Rev Mpho Moruakgomo said the engines came at the right time. He said it would be now safe for people to develop their plots and build big properties such as shopping malls and big houses without fear of loss during fire breakout.

Rev Moruakgomo said property development played a significant role in the economy of the country, adding that the three fire engines would also assist in other district councils during fire disasters.

Present at the handing over was Southern District Council chairman, Mr Leach Tlhomelang who commended the Kgatleng District leadership for being visionary. He said the good relationship between Kgatleng District Council and the Southern District cames from far, noting that the two had previously learnt from each other.

Mr Tlhomelang implored the council to continue to serve Bakgatla and ensure they utilise the tourism attraction sites around Kgatleng to generate money and develop the district further. Ends
