Teachers show compassion
10 Jun 2014
Mr Kgaogano John was, on June 7, a proud recipient of a two-bedroomed house courtesy of teachers across the country.
As part of the national teachers day commemoration in Kasane, teachers also built a house for the needy person whose plot is in Pandamatenga.
Handing over the house, acting Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi encouraged Mr John to establish a lasting relationship with the teachers and education sector in general and to be an active participant in the success of the sector.
He also encouraged Mr John to ensure that he maintained the yard and the structure that was built for him. Mr Masisi and the Member of Parliament for the area Mr Gibson Nshimwe pledged to donate five days worth of their parliamentary sitting allowance each to help get started on a poultry project.
One of the teachers pledged to donate 10 chickens to Mr John. The permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Richard Matlhare pledged P1 000. The house fully furnished was started last year October with sponsorship from various organisations in Chobe and beyond.
The ceiling and connection of water to the yard was also pledged for by regional Parents and Teacher Association (PTA) and Botswana Primary Teachers Association (BOPRITA). For his part, Mr John thanked all teachers for their generosity and encouraged them to continue doing good for others. Ends
