Kgosi Oscar Mosielele of Moshupa has hailed teachers for their contribution in nation building.
Speaking at teacher’s day celebration in Moshupa, Kgosi Mosielele said teachers were the drivers of the society’s noble vision and aspirations.
He said the day signified the immense input that teachers had made and continued to make towards the development of human capital that the country needed for its economic growth, stressing that the day reminiscenced the qualities and achievements of teachers and academics.
Kgosi Mosielele emphasised the need for teachers to unite saying teacher unity was pivotal to the achievement of many things beyond the day’s theme. He spoke of the value of teamwork between teachers from primary to secondary and tertiary level for the holistic development of students to ensure that they become valuable citizens of tomorrow.
He said it was important to direct efforts towards ensuring that teachers played a key role in optimising utilisation of technology through teaching the necessary and relevant skills.
Kgosi Mosielele spoke of a technologically complaint education system saying that would ultimately lead to delivery of good quality education that the society needed to solve some of the societal problems such as poverty, unemployment, under employment and crimes.
He was of the view that teachers needed access to technology such as internet to undertake research on the syllabus content they taught, adding that by so doing they were also educating themselves because learning was a lifelong process.
He said there was need to train teachers on the use of information communication technology gadgets to facilitate the learning process.
He expressed his wish for the society to work together to ensure that societal goals are achieved and could not hide his contentment for the teaching community with regard to the role they play in the society.
Chairperson of teachers union, Mrs Omphile Raseleka said a teacher is a yard stick that measures a nation’s success. She appealed to all teachers and school heads to work together.to Ends
