Spiritual Healing Church donates house
02 Jun 2014
Acting Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Shaw Kgathi has handed over a house to a needy family in Bobonong.
The house was built by Spiritual Healing Church to the tune of P135 000. Handing over the house to the family of Mr Gasejwane Mabeana in Bobonong on May 31, Mr Kgathi commended the church for the donation.
The church had done what was in line with the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation, and the five Ds that President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama introduced, particularly the D that emphasised dignity.
He said President Khama called on Batswana to provide shelter to the needy people who did not have shelter and as such he thanked the church for heeding this call.
The acting minister thanked individuals and companies who have heeded this call by extending a helping hand to the needy people in this country, adding that the government alone could not afford to provide shelter to all needy people.
Mr Kgathi, who is also Member of Parliament for Bobirwa said by building a house for Mr Mabeana’s family meant that they had helped the government to eradicate poverty as well as restored dignity amongst the family members.
In addition, he thanked the church for praying for peace and prosperity as well as the leadership of this country. Minister Kgathi implored the church to continue praying for the leadership of this country so that they succeed in their plans to develop Batswana.
Unlike in other countries where there was political instability, this country still enjoys good governance and political stability because of churches, he said.
He urged churches to take their rightful position to impact positively on people’s lives particularly the youth and also urged Spiritual Healing Church to take the youth on board saying that the fear of the lord was the beginning of wisdom.
Furthermore, he urged the church to teach the youth good morals, respect for elderly people and the Ten Commandments, adding that this could be achieved by introducing them to Sunday schools.
For his part, the chairperson of the committee that was tasked with construction of the house, Mr Modibedi Rantsudu said restoring someone’s dignity was in line with Christian teachings.
He said the committee worked together harmoniously until the project was completed. The church raised money to undertake that project through fund raising activities, he added.
The church also furnished the house to the tune of P19 000. An official from Social and Community Development, Mr Allan Mbakile said the council was grateful for the house built for the Mabeana family and urged them to continue extending a helping hand to other needy families, saying that government’s resources were limited.
He said his office and the church worked harmoniously until the completion of the project and implored other churches to emulate what Spiritual Healing Church had done. Ends
