Three countries to represent Africa in China

Three countries that participated at the just ended 2nd All Africa Youth Games in rowing and canoeing have qualified for the second youth Olympic Games that will be held in China in August this year.
The three countries South Africa, Senegal and Sao Tome were announced at the end of the award winning ceremony at Gaborone dam on May 30.
South Africa’s swimming team finished top with a total of 26 medals followed by Senegal with 17 and Sao Tome with 15. Meanwhile, South Africa won three gold medals in the Kayak women and canoe men slalom finals today beating other competing countries such as Tunisia, Nigeria, and Cote D’ivoire.
South Africa’s Donna Hutton won the gold medal in the Kayak women finals while her colleague Brandon Orpwood won the men’s category. Brandon also repeated himself by winning a gold medal in the Kayak Men Slalom when he beat Goodluck Gbamire of Nigeria who won a silver medal and Joaquim Manhique of Mozambique
However, Nigeria managed to scoop a gold medal through Favour Bewei in the canoe women slalom which saw Mozambique’s Izilda Machohe winning herself a silver medal and Kelly Affran of Cote D’ivoire getting a bronze. The next third Africa Youth Games will be held in Algeria in 2018. Ends
