Table tennis hopes on mixed doubles

The Botswana table tennis team performed badly in the singles at the on-going Gaborone 2014 Africa Youth Games.
The two-member team comprising Olerato Ramagapu (girl) and Peo Thebe (boy) finished in lowly positions as the singles event ended at the Botswana National Youth Centre on May 26.
Ramagapu ended the tournament at position 14 out of 16 contestants. She won 3-1 against Rawnda’s Assoumpta Kamanda Isimbi and lost 3-0 to Seychelles’ Zahira Khattab.
Her male team mate, Peo Thebe, was ranked 16th after losing 3-0 to Libya’s Mohammed Hassan and suffering another 3-0 defeat to Nicholus Easther. All hopes for Botswana table tennis team lie in the mixed doubles in which Olerato and Peo will take part.
Meanwhile, on the girl’s side, Algeria were crowned gold medallists with Egypt receiving a silver medal while Nigeria and Mauritius shared the bronze medal. The teams were represented by Sanna Lagsira, Fagr Shoman, Ajoke Ojomu and Chorwee Isabelle respectively.
In the boy’s category, Nigeria won the gold medal, followed by Congo with silver while Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire de shared the bronze medal. The four countries were represented by Olasunkanmi Ogini, Christ Bienakiti, Mahmoud Fathy and Gideon Kassa Vital ENDS
