19 Feb 2013

Public servants owe the Dikgonnye Village Development Committee (VDC) rental amounting to P26 685.

Presenting a report at the district commissioner’s recent kgotla meeting in Dikgonnye last Friday, VDC treasurer, Mr Meleko Kgakole said they had failed to recover the money despite numerous efforts to encourage officers to pay.

Mr Kgakole added that even tribal officers who left on transfers had also not paid their rental fees.

The committee was also encouraged to seek assistance from the district commissioner’s office and provide a list of all officers in arrears to help them recover the money owed.

Kgatleng District Council chief civil and mechanical officer, Mr Emmanuel Dibuseng advised the committee to sign lease agreements with all their tenants. That, he said, would bind officers to pay their rent, thus avoiding defaulting and subsequent debt.

The district commissioner’s office was addressing a series of kgotla meetings to interact with the public to see whether they got the services they need.ed The office also needed feedback on service delivery with the aim to address challenges as and when they arose. ENDS
