19 Feb 2013
The Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Keletso Rakhudu has told Parliament that due to financial constraints, it was not possible to set up consumer protection offices in Lobatse.
Responding to a parliamentary question from MP for Lobatse Mr Nehemiah Modubule, the assistant minister said under the National Development Plan 9, the ministry had proposed to set up the offices in Lobatse, Tsabong, Ghanzi, Maun and Masunga, but the projects were deferred due to economic recession.
He further stated that it was their intention to decentralise the services throughout the country as much as possible in an endevour to take the services closer to the people.
Mr Rakhudu said the ministry would reconsider the possibility of establishing these offices when the economic situation improved.
MP Modubule had asked the trade and industry minister to state when the consumer protection offices would be set up in Lobatse. ENDS
