DISS road cost over P3 million

19 Feb 2013

The 600 metre-road that connects the Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services offices in Phakalane to the A1 Road has cost over P3.7million.

Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Nonofo Molefhi told Parliament that the project was awarded at a contract sum of P5 046 151.82 since the onsite measured quantities for the works were less than the estimated quantities and the final cost of construction was P3 766 179.82

Mr Molefhi said the contractor was chosen through the selective tendering, which was limited to local companies known to have asphalt paving plant and registered with PPADB.

He indicated that in this regard, two contractors were shortlisted, namely Asphalt Botswana (Pty) Ltd and Bango Trading (Pty) Ltd.

He said after submission of bids by two shortlisted contractors, Bango Trading was awarded the contract since they met the technical requirements and had the lowest bid.

MP for Gaborone Central, Mr Dumelang Saleshando had asked the minister to state the total cost of the road, its length and how the contractor was chosen. ENDS
