BR Highlanders win first leg

BR Highlanders have won the first leg of premier league promotion play offs by defeating Rolling Boys 2-1.

The hosts came from behind to beat Rolling Boys during their encounter on in Mahalapye on May 3. The visiting side were first to find the back of the net about 20 minutes after recess, when Mogomotsi Keabaitse took the advantage of rabble of players in the box to put his team on the lead.

After the goal, Rolling Boys accelerated tempo of the game but when they thought they had took over control of the game, Baitshenyegi Gabohole outpaced the Rolling Boys defence and put the ball above Mmoloki Sedimo to level the score.

Three minutes later, Dipogiso Metlhaleng beat an offside trap and took the near post shot to put the second ball behind Sedimo. 
Some minutes later, Rolling Boys keeper denied Gomolemo Ramaabya a goal.

In the first half, Rolling Boys skipper, Orapeleng Nkwe unleashed a cracker but his efforts were fruitless as the ball hit the cross bar. On one hand, Gabohole had missed about two clear chances in the first half.

In an interview, the victorious coach, Paul Moyo said though they won the match, their intention was not to concede a goal as it could disadvantage them in the second leg.

However, Coach Moyo said he was impressed by his team’s collective efforts, adding that Brian Kobe, a product of constituency league, Otlaarongwa Nthumolang from lower division are adding value to his side.

He said he would intensify his attack in the second leg. “The war goes on; we have a second chance to get into the premier league,” he said.

For his part, Coach Wire Kaelo said they started badly and conceded silly goals because his defence was not comfortable
“This game was winnable but we lost because of individual mistakes.” he stated. ENDS
