MVA hosts inter-fund games

The Botswana Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) as well as organisations from Namibia and Swaziland successfully hosted the 10th annual inter-fund games over the weekend.

The annual event provided a platform for employees from other countries to come together, network and strengthen ties through participating in different sports activities. The countries participated in sports codes such as netball, football, volleyball, athletics and tug of war.

Meanwhile, Swaziland’s Sincephetelo MVA fund scooped position one in the football category, while Botswana settled for position two and Namibia trailed behind in position 3. In the netball category, MVA fund Namibia women emerged victorious in position 1 while Swaziland and Botswana got positions 2 and 3 respectively.

In athletics, Namibia once again got position one in females’ category while the males got position two. Botswana got position 2 in the female category and the males got 3rd position while Swaziland females came third and the males emerged the champions in athletics.

The three teams also battled it out in tug of war game and the winner was Swaziland followed by Botswana in position 2 and Namibia position three.

All the teams were awarded medals and trophies. Swaziland emerged the overall winner of the tenth inter-funds games.

Speaking during the medal awarding ceremony, MVA Botswana chief executive officer, Cross Kgosidiile said the inter-funds games marked ten years of successful relationship between MVA funds in Southern Africa.

He said the games had grown in leaps and bounds and they have achieved positive results.

Kgosidiile said this year’s theme was appropriate as MVA fund Botswana had appreciated the good working relations with all funds in the region through games.

Games, he noted promoted unity, spirit of collaboration and engaged each other in exchange of programs with a view to improve service delivery.

Kgosidiile said the games helped to develop the local communities as they leave legacy within the locality where they are held

He thanked MVA board members for dedicating resources towards the plight and welfare of employees. ENDS
