First National Bank of Botswana (FNBB) places a lot of importance in contributing to the upliftment of communities, says FNB Foundation board member, Ms Myra Sekgororoane.
Speaking at the handover of a paediatric ward play room to Athlone Hospital by FNB Lobatse branch, Ms Sekgororoane said the FNB Foundation believed that the ward and the patient’s shelter would keep involved and entertain young ones and their mothers as they await services from health experts, adding that it will also provide an opportunity for children to interact and learn the names of the cartoons within the walls of the ward and the shelter.
Ms Sekgororoane said she was happy that the FNB Foundation made another milestone in contributing to health aspects of the young community in Lobatse. She explained that the donations should meet the objectives of the foundation.
“Health is crucial for life, especially to young people whose immune system is still fragile and vulnerable and it is with great pride that we as the foundation have contributed to the sector at Athlone Hospital Lobatse,” she said.
The paediatric ward and patient waiting shelter was implemented through the FNB Lobatse branch at a cost of P50 000 adding that that it was completed within budget.
Athlone Hospital Superintendent, Dr Boipelo Lecoge, said that the hospital was thankful for the gesture by FNB as it would help in the healing process of the children admitted to the ward as with the warm, bright, colourful room with all its exciting features will put a smile on the children’s faces.
Dr Lecoge said the kindness showed by FNB Founfation was in line with Vision 2016 pillars of a compassionate, just and caring nation. Batswana, she said, have always had a culture of helping those in need .
“Let this endeavour by FNB be a reminder to all of us as individuals and organizations to be generous and give to our families, neighbours and communities without expecting anything in return,” she said. “The hand that gives is more blessed than the hand that receives,” she said. Ends
