Kazungula Fighters suffer setback
18 Feb 2013
First Division North side, Kazungula Fighters coach, William Makhula, whose team had to play back to back features in order to save costs and honour fixtures, has decried fatigue as their major setback.
The Kasane based outfit on Saturday travelled to play against Tonota FC which they hammered 3-1. On Sunday, they were hosted by GNT who clobbered them 5-2.
Fighters had a 6th minute lead through 18-year-old One Diane’s ingenuity. However, GNT found their way back into the game through Teko Molapisi who levelled the score on the 37th minute.
Molapisi was making his first appearance after being away for some time due to his differences with the technical team. He scored another goal in the 54th minute and completed his hattrick in the 56th minute.
A Durban Moseki goal added to the misery of Fighters in the 59th minute. GNT kept on searching for more goals and scored the fifth goal in the 71st minute through Tebogo Moffat.
However Fighters would not surrender easily and made counter attack after counter attack. They were rewarded with a goal in the 86th minute as Diane made it a brace.
Coach Makhula, who was on his fourth game with the team, said the team had been struggling to win games and it was only recently when he took over that they started to register some points.
He said of the nine games the team has played, they lost six games. He said the boys were still adjusting to his style of coaching and showed promise.
He noted that they managed to collect nine points from the four games they played under his mentorship. He said his boys had to play a double header to save costs as travelling to Francistown was expensive. The team needs P6 500 for a single trip to the city. ENDS
