Notwane River cross border bridge preparations in progress

Preparations for a cross border bridge across the Notwane River in Ramotswa is at an advanced stage, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Nonofo Molefhi has said.
Mr Molefhi said the bridge was part of the bilateral cross border projects between Botswana and South Africa where Botswna was constructing the Plaaatjan bridge and South Africa the Notwane bridge.
Mr Molefhi said the design of the bridge was complete and tendering was ongoing following site visits for the bidders which were conducted on March 4 this year. Award for construction is expected this month.
The minister said his ministry was preparing to hold discussions with the South East District leadership to hold a consultative meeting with stakeholders in Ramotswa to update them on the project.
South East South MP, Mr Odirile Motlhale had asked the minister to brief Parliament on the status of the Ramotswa bridge project. Ends
