UB Kicks Prisons share points

07 Apr 2014

UB Kicks failed to capitalise on home ground advantage and ended up settling for a point in their own backyard after a tough match against Prisons.

The two teams played to a goalless draw at the University of Botswana Stadium on Sunday, April 6. UB kicks were a bit defensive from the start as they allowed the Prisons ladies to visit their box time and again.

Most of the play was centered in the middle of the field and both teams were unconvincing as they failed to maintain possession for a long time. UB Kicks won a set piece few metres away from the box and Patricia Motingwa delivered a magnificent shot from the free-kick spot, but was disappointed by Nelly Reid who failed to capitalize on the rebound.

Kicks kept on launching promising counter attacks but unfortunately failed to convert any of them into goals. The teams were still deadlocked on the quarter hour mark as the game got more physical with both sides delivering tough tackles.

The UB ladies won another free kick and Motingwa once again delivered a splendid shot that was just flicked away by Prisons keeper,  Lesedi Moroka for a corner kick. The game went to the break with neither of the teams on the score sheet.

Both teams failed to up their game in the second half as their play was more concentrated in the middle of the park with the wingers left idling.

The defence remained solid and denied any of the strikers a chance to attack. The duo of Tshoganetso Keitirile and Lesedi Matlapeng kept the Prisons wall impenetrable and UB Kicks introduced Rosemary Morwagae to boost their attack. Fatigue set in after the hour mark and both sides were let down by poor touches as they tried to score during the dying minutes of the game.

The game ended as a goalless stalemate and both teams managed to salvage a point from a tough game that could have gone either way. ENDS
