07 Apr 2014

Parliament has been informed that Kgatleng District is divided into three water metre readers clusters of Mochudi, Oodi and Artesia.

Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse explained that Mochudi cluster which covered Mochudi, Morwa and Pilane had eight metre readers.

He said Oodi cluster covered Oodi, Matebele Modipane, Dikwididi, Mabalane, Sikwane, Mmathubudukwane, Ramonaka, Malolwane, Olifant’s Drift and Ramotlabaki with four metre readers.

Mr Seretse said Artesia Cluster, which covered Bokaa, Rasesa Malotwana, Dikgonnye, Artesia, Leshibitse, Khurutshe and Kgomodiatshaba had three metre readers. He stated that in total, there were 15 metre readers in Kgatleng District and metre readings determining water consumption were taken monthly.

However, he said where officers due to unforeseen circumstances were not able to take readings, monthly consumption was estimated based on the previous consumption patterns.

Mr Seretse was answering a question on behalf of Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources from MP for Kgatleng East, Mr Isaac Mabiletsa who had asked him to state the number of Water Utilities Corporation officials who took metre readings in Mochudi and other villages within Kgatleng District.

The MP wanted to know how often these officers visited homes to do the metre readings to determine water consumption. Ends
