Mokaila visits Debswana mines

The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila will visit Debswana’s mines from February 20 to 22.
According to a press release from Debswana, this will be Minister Mokaila’s first visit to the Debswana operations after his appointment as minerals, energy and water resources minister last year.
“The visit aims to apprise the minister on Debswana business, current operational matters and long term plans” the release states.
He will travel to Orapa on February 20, where he will tour Debswana’s largest and oldest mine, Orapa, as well as the Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines. On February 22, the minister will tour Jwaneng mine, which contributes between 60 to 70 per cent of Debswana’s total revenue.
The release further states that the Minister will engage with the leadership teams at both mines and receive updates on short and long term production plans, and how the mines continue to benefit communities around their operations. ENDS
