The Acting Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Vincent Seretse has informed Parliament that the enrolment for Tirelo Setshaba is at 15 000 and so is the threshold each year.

He said in the successive year, the 15 000 will still be maintained lest by the attrition of the people who would have gone out of the scheme.

He said he did not have projected numbers, but noted that the programme is meant for the people who will be engaged to learn, develop skills and gain exposure so that they can have opportunities. He said if that happens, the job market will absorb them.

He was responding to questions asked by Kanye North MP, Mr Kentse Rammidi who had asked about the future Tirelo Setshaba enrolment.

Mr Rammidi had said if an intake of 15 000 every year was absorbed in Tirelo Setshaba, by the year 2018, five groups would have been enrolled in the scheme and cumulatively government would have spent P1.89 billion to pay allowances for five groups. He questioned the sustainability of the scheme and asked how government will raise this money. ENDS
