Tribal Territories Act does not categorise tribes

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Peter Siele has explained that the Tribal Territories Act does not categorise any tribe as principal nor does it confer territory on any tribe.
However, he said the act defines the boundaries of Bamangwato, Batawana, Bakgatla, Bakwena, Bangwaketse, Bamalete and Batlokwa tribal territories. “In this regard, I cannot therefore state tribes which are not included in the principal tribes’ category as these are not outlined in the Tribal Territories Act,” said the minister.
The MP of Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Gilson Saleshando had asked the minister to state tribes that are not included in the Principal Tribes category. BOPA
