Experts to review conditions of service for disciplined forces

03 Apr 2014

In a move to address the conditions of service of members of disciplined forces, the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security is in the process of procuring the services of professional experts to carry the exercise in 2014/2015 financial year.

Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse informed Parliament on April 2 that findings would be presented to government for consideration in 2014/15 financial year, but implementation of any of the recommendations would be for 2015/16.

He stated that the ministry was in the meantime considering making recommendation for possible limited adjustments for immediate implementation.

He noted that the ministry started with an in-house attempt to address the conditions of service of members of disciplined forces to include those of the Botswana Defence Force. He said it was however realised that such an approach would not be comprehensive enough.

The minister was answering a question from the MP for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi who had asked him to update Parliament on progress made with regard to conditions of service of the BDF. Ends
