Satmos march over Ecco
01 Apr 2014
Ecco City Greens suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Selebi Phikwe based Satmos FC over the weekend.
Satmos surprised many when they trounced Mamoja Diskie 2-1, pushing the Francistown side out of the top eight bracket in an encounter that was marred by rough tackling and inconsistent decisions by the referee.
Satmos broke the deadlock in the first half when Mokuke Shakambayo struck home after beating the off side trap set by Ecco. The visitors managed to equalise late in the second half after a dazzling move that was nicely crafted from the right flank.
Ecco’s Amponah had the easiest task of tapping the ball into the net, easily beating former Zebras goalkeeper, Kagiso Tshelametsi. The poor football and reckless tackles continued in the second stanza and it was no surprise when Lovers Mofokeng of FC Satmos was sent for an early shower after he was booked twice.
But Mamoja Diskie failed to overcome the limping Satmos and often times Satmos hit man Patrick Kaunda was left unmarked on the right flank.
Looking increasingly dangerous on the ball, Kaunda initiated some good moves and slotted some good passes into the Ecco box, but he was undone by his team mates who failed to capitalise on the chances.
Kaunda managed to dispossess Malepa Bolelang in the middle of the park and raced down the right flank to put a spot on cross for Mogakolodi Balatotse who was unmarked in the box. Balatotse made no mistake as he beat Chamunorwa Madanombe to make it two for the home side.
Mamoja Diskie tried all they could to level matters but to no avail. Their woes worsened when they too were reduced to ten men after Onkgolotse Senatla was red carded. Ecco players were left disappointed on two occasions when referees Joshua Bondo denied them a penalty and later ignored a hand ball incident just outside the box.
After the game the Ecco supporters hurled nasty words at Bondo and the match officials.
Clearly outnumbered, security guards had to backtrack after their efforts to quell the rioting crowd proved too dangerous. The officials remained trapped inside the stadium for some time under the watchful eye of the security guards until the supporters finally dispersed. Ends
